Academic Integrity
Those of us in higher education talk a lot about academic integrity. We also wonder a lot about students cheating. If you are a healthcare educator, you may wonder if your staff are cutting corners in their learning "just to get it done." On some level each of us assumes that those around us share our own sense of integrity. However, we each bring into any situation a personal lived definition of integrity that is founded on our upbringing and past experiences. Integrity is personal.
Academic integrity is a foundational component of education. It's one where you, the faculty, and your learners may have differing expectations. It's important for you to have clarified for yourself what your expectations are for learner behavior so that you are in a better position to discuss with the learners what you expect of them and to listen to their various viewpoints.
First, let's get that issue of cheating out in the open.
